Trong Gia Nguyen: Mann Cave
25.04.2013 — 28.06.2013Trong Gia Nguyen
The exclusive installation Mann Cave takes its inspiration from the designated room in a house where the man can ‘just be a dude.’ The stereotype of this ‘bachelor pad’ contains e.g. kitschy sports and hunting memorabilia. While many of the exhibits seem playful at first glance, they do point to a deeper darker side of existence and decay out a reference to Thomas Mann similar to Trong’s work "Death in Venice", part of his rice grain-paintings, where in meticulous work he wrote the first chapter of the book word for word on rice grains.
