Biography
Hermann Hesse (2 July 1877 – 9 August 1962), German poet, novelist, and painter.
In 1949 in his description „hours at the desk“ Hermann Hesse remembered:
"Several times a year it occurs that someone inquires, if one of the little pictures decorated poem manuscripts was still available, the ones I keep available for admirers whose returns help to cover for some of the expenses for all the packages and support to the countries of misery and hunger.“
One of these illustrated poem manuscripts, which nowadays only appear in auctions to barely affordable prices, is reproduced here for the first time in a limited edition of 99 numbered copies. (Box, 13 faksimile prints, peoem transkripts)
